Being a child-centric Child Care Center, Eager Scholars takes the initiative of building a unique curriculum established on Jerome S. Bruner’s Constructivist and spiral approach to education. The simple things come first, along with the child’s climb through the developmental ladder.


These programs are all tailored to fit a child’s needs according to age range. The activities therein are pre-planned and structured to target the advancement of the following virtues:

Infant

We cater to children 6 weeks to 12 months old

Curiosity fuels creativity. At Eager Scholars, infants as early as 6 weeks old are received and sheltered under the warm care of a child development professional. Our staff will see to it that your child receives his/her physiological and security needs along with activities that invite exploration and discovery.


Our infant program caters to children 6 weeks to 12 months old. Recognizing that infancy is a highly delicate stage of a child’s development, we have outlined activities that consider their needs in a first-base manner. Our starter includes training the child to perfect simple fine motor skills such as holding, looking, grasping, crawling, and picking.


Our teachers do not only give safety and care for your child but also stimulate his/her emotional, cognitive, and physical development through personal nurturing, attention, and exploration.

Toddlers

Our program focuses on your baby’s development

Children aged 12 months get to explore their environment more and are continuing to find purpose in the events, objects, and words they are introduced to. They develop their individuality and sense of identity during this time. They develop a vocabulary through the constant learning of words, both spoken and written. Children continue to learn as they discover new things around them and develop confidence. Children enjoy repetition, such as dumping and filling, which can establish a routine they can follow.


Our toddler child care program focuses on your baby’s development:


  • Cognitive skills: We allow children to explore and discover their environment on their own terms. We supervise and encourage their playtime by giving them books, classical music, pattern-making materials, and other inventive toys.
  • Social-Emotional skills: We nurture children both verbally and non-verbally through social connections; we give them time for dramatic play and cultivating connections with peers and classmates.
  • Communication: We expand your child’s vocabulary through reading, singing, and using appropriate gestures. We use books, records, nursery rhymes, puppets and creative toys, and flannel board stories to facilitate learning.
  • Physical skills: We encourage children to walk, run, jump, climb, and dance, which can improve their physical health and skills.

Pre-K

This program caters to children of ages 3 to 5 years

In compliance with the national prerogative of forming a solid educational base for early American learners, Eager Scholars provides a Pre-K program to all LA children of ages 3 to 5 years.


Be there as your little one explores and achieves his/her developmental milestones through hands-on activities and positive reinforcements. We have diligently explored the LA Pre-K education guidelines and made sure to comply.


PRE-KINDERGARTEN APPLICATION PROCESS

Jefferson Parish Residents: The Jefferson Parish Public School System is pleased to announce a collaborative Pre-Kindergarten application process for all children registering for publicly funded spots in child care, Head Start, Early Head Start, NSECD, and elementary schools in Jefferson Parish. This Pre-K registration process was designed with the goal of convenience and accessibility for our parents. Parents can access and submit applications at www.jeffersonchild.com.


Orleans Parish Residents: The Orleans Parish School Board and the Recovery School District are partnering together to provide students and families with the opportunity to choose a school that best suits their interests and needs. New Orleans has long had some citywide access to public schools. The elimination of neighborhood schools in favor of universal school choice was a step forward in increasing access. It also demonstrated the need for an enrollment system that facilitates school choice for all families and ensures families are enrolled fairly. Parents can access information at www.enrollnolaps.org and submit their application on the app; Eager Scholars has a partnership with Foundation Preparatory using school code 36192.

AFTERSCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM


Our Philosophy: We understand that every child needs a different set of learning styles and programs to fit their unique needs. Our goal is to provide Innovative Approaches to Education and Wellness and truly know your child well and use this knowledge to guide, support, and motivate him or her. We believe that good tutoring/mentoring requires continual professional development, personal reflection, and collaboration. We value parent involvement and participation and encourage every parent to collaborate with the learning programs we implement to give their child a positive and joyous learning experience.


Education: The Eager Scholars after-school enrichment Program tutoring services provide help to participants who attend the local area schools but may be struggling to keep up with the required academics. Our afterschool program’s tutors are qualified and able to address all subject matters building on strengths and remediation skill deficits, thus utilizing compensatory strategies that help foster independence. Life at home can be a lot easier if the bulk of homework is discussed and completed before arriving home; a neutral homework coach with knowledge of what is being covered in the school is what you will find in our educational component.


Health & Wellness: A key afterschool program indicator that will be addressed will be to reduce obesity. The obesity target is currently off-track in Louisiana and is highlighted as a recommended area for our afterschool program utilizing physical activities through WII Fit, Flag Football, Kickball, Basketball, and Zumbatomic Fitness for kids, etc.


Nutrition: Nutrition education and a nutritious snack will be offered daily in the afterschool program.


Payment Method: *This program will promote a climate that allows the development of personal goals and high expectations, respect for self and others, personal accountability for one’s own actions, well-earned pride in accomplishments, a strong work ethic, and an understanding of how academic success can lead to expanded education options. In addition, this program will work to provide numerous opportunities for parental involvement and linkages to community resources that will be instrumental in creating strong bonds and/or strengthening existing bonds for youth at risk and increasing the number of positive role models in their lives.
